在合同翻译，尤其是英译中时，经常可以见到”notwithstanding the foregoing“之类的句子，通常这类句子可以直接译为“尽管有上述规定”，翻译与although， though， even if使用并没有太大区别，基本上都可以翻译成“尽管…”， “即使…”，表示一种让步，但是它引导的并不是让步状语从句，后面接的内容应放在次要位置考虑。
